Chippewa Valley Museum Planning Gifts

A planned gift is a future donation to the Chippewa Valley Museum, given through a will or other form of designation. By contrast, gifts to the annual campaign or for membership dues are made from a donor’s discretionary income, and while they may be budgeted for, they are not planned.

Consider a planned gift to the Chippewa Valley Museum or the Chippewa Valley Museum Foundation when you are evaluating your personal, family and financial needs, as well as your long term charitable giving. There are different options for legacy gifts, and a legacy gift may provide significant tax benefits. Every legacy gift, regardless of the amount, is important and cherished.

Why create a PLANNED gift?

There are different reasons for leaving a planned gift. For some, it is a way to ensure their memory lives on in the work of the organization. For others, it is a way to ensure that the Chippewa Valley Museum is able to continue to provide historical an cultural resources to the people of the Chippewa Valley.

Gifts both large and small are important — planned giving is not just for the wealthy. Everyone who supports the Chippewa Valley Museum is at a different stage of his or her life. Whatever your specific situation may be, we can help you find a legacy giving option that suits your circumstances.

Common Legacy Gift Options

Wills and Living Trusts

One of the simplest ways to create a Planned Gift is by including the Chippewa Valley Museum in your will or living trust. This is known as a charitable bequest. You can leave a specific amount, a gift contingent upon certain events, or a percentage of your estate. This gift may entitle your estate to an unlimited federal estate tax charitable deduction.

Beneficiary Designations

You can name the Chippewa Valley Museum as a beneficiary to receive assets such as retirement plans and life insurance policies after you’re gone. To do this, you need to fill out a form that is entirely separate from your will. Since the Chippewa Valley Museum is tax-exempt, the entire asset is transferred to the museum to support the work and mission you value. A beneficiary designation can be reviewed and adjusted to best fit your stage in life.

There are other options as well: charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, even real estate. Take the time to consider your options carefully and plan your gift in consultation with your family, lawyer or financial and/or tax advisor.
