Book Signing: Postcards from the Past

Local author and photographer David Tank will welcome visitors to the Chippewa Valley Museum from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12 signing copies of his new book Postcards from the Past: Then & Now Pictures of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, available for $24.00 at the museum store. 

Tank painstakingly captured photographs from today that pair with old postcard pictures from the identical scene long ago, including streetscapes, buildings, and parks.

"Shooting the pictures for this book has helped me recognize the amazing transformations that are not only taking place in Eau Claire today, but that have been happening throughout the past century," explained Tank. "The photos in the book, both old and new, show the ongoing vibrancy and resilience of the Eau Claire community."

While the historic images in the postcards are themselves captivating, the new photos (all shot in 2016), paired with the postcards serve as a visual time capsule of life here today.
