Trivia Night Raises Funds for Programs
Posted: August 28, 2018
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (August 27, 2018) – On August 22, six teams went head to head at the Chippewa Valley Museum’s first, homespun local trivia fundraising event, Who Knows the Chippewa Valley Best? With a goal of raising funds for museum programs, and highlighting museum offerings to the community, this event successfully raised over $2800.
Local author, assistant professor of English at the UWEC, and event emcee BJ Hollars had this to say about it, “How do I use the museum? I take my students here, I write here, I research here, I eat ice-cream here, I buy vintage postcards here, I give presentations here, and now, I can say, I also host trivia nights here. That’s my kind of museum. A mothball free museum. Because this is a lively place, a vibrant place, and a place that makes our community richer by its presence.“ As far as who knows the Chippewa Valley best, on this night it was the Volume One team, followed by First Congregational Church, and a combined team of local history enthusiasts and Ayres Associates employees.
The success of this event was made possible by many area business sponsors. Toppers provided pizza, Landmark Company sponsored free ice cream cones, and Infinity Wine and Beverage provided wine. Round and table sponsors included Volume One, Realityworks and CCFBank. Chestnut Consulting and Cedar Corporation each sponsored a trivia round, and Ayres Associates and Peoples Bank Midwest each sponsored a table. CCFBank, WESTconsin Credit Union, Ayres Associates, Crusts Unlimited, Xcel Energy, Leinenkugel’s Brewery, and Visit Eau Claire all provided round prizes.
The Chippewa Valley Museum looks forward to hosting more local trivia events in 2019, and will continue to provide programs that encourage cultural and historical understanding in the Chippewa Valley.
