Tuesday Night Tribal Art Classes
Posted: August 14, 2013
Tribal artist and Lac Courte Oreilles member Dick Mindykowski returns on Tuesday evenings this Fall to share his knowledge of Ojibwe culture and traditions, during each of these engaging, project-based sessions.
Sessions include background information on trapping and tanning techniques, as well as the methods used for hand-harvesting the wood and other natural materials, adding the beadwork, and selecting the fur and adornments when completing each piece.
Two project sizes are available. The charge for walking sticks over four feet is $25 (adult-sized). Those less than four feet are $15 (child-sized). All finished pieces will be signed by both the artist and the student. There is a limit of one project per person per class.
Class dates are October 1, 8, 15, 22 and November 5 and 12 from 6:30-7:30 pm. Enrollment is open to ages 13 and older, or 12 and under with adult supervision. Families are welcome. Each session is limited to 25 projects on a first come, first served basis. Advance registration is encouraged.
